Class Description

General introduction to The Chubbuck Technique with explanation of how to adapt performances to incorporate the 12 Step Technique.

  •  Finding what your character wants in each scene. Finding what the character wants in the entire scene and this action supports the overall objective. What’s stopping your character from getting what he or she wants from the other character.
  • Replacing the other actor with a real life person in your life and therefore acting out as if the real person is in front of you and not the actor. When speaking or hearing about a place thing or person or event. What comes to mind, what vision appears. A beat is a thought and every time there is a change there is an action that follows through.
  • What has happened before each scene takes place. This allows you to be in the moment in each scene and able to move about with purpose. Understanding your surroundings such as a stage or classroom and being able to transform it in your mind as a place from your real life. Using props that allows your behavior to be natural during a scene.
  • The voice that takes place inside your mind but don’t speak out loud. The characters backstory is the pathway to creating the world of the character. Learning to let it go and get out of your head and trust yourself and the work you’ve done. Don’t second guess your actions or motives.
