Yisrael Dubov is an award-winning actor, most recently seen on Apple TV's "Little America". He has been acting professionally since 2015 and in that time has studied a variety of acting techniques, including Meisner, Chekhov, Improv, and more. Yisrael has extensive background in the Meisner Technique and had the fortunate opportunity to train under Ranjiv Perera, a direct student of Sanford Meisner's own prodigy and right-hand man, Martin Barter. After moving to Las Vegas, Yisrael partnered with Bright Star Acting Academy to share these timeless techniques with other willing actors; instructing, guiding, and pushing them to grow as actors.
This is a 12-week acting course focusing exclusively on the Meisner technique, where you will learn to live in the moment, free your emotional truth, and manifest instant chemistry with your scene partner. In this class, we do not focus on lectures; we focus on fine-tuning your instrument to best express the heart and emotional reality of any given scene. When done correctly, the Meisner training becomes freeing and quite fun.

He's super sharp when it comes to noticing the little things and gives feedback that's right on the money. Totally worth it – I’ve definitely upped my acting game since joining his class. He takes you through Meisner's steps in a way that really preps you for those tough roles. Just a heads-up, you’ll need to find some time outside class to work with a partner, which can make or break your experience. But hey, that’s part of the deal. Yisrael’s also cool about staying longer or throwing in an extra class if he thinks we need it. Big thanks to him for a great course!

I just finished the 12 week, immersive Meisner 101 class with Yisrael Dubov at Bright Star Acting Academy. If you are interested in learning about The Meisner Technique, I highly recommend studying with Yisrael! There’s no substitute for *in person* classes, especially with a partner focused method such as Meisner. We learned so much in the class about moment to moment acting, getting out of your head and focusing on your partner to make each scene as organic and truthful as possible. It was very challenging, at times frustrating, but equally rewarding. I’m so grateful to have had a teacher who was direct and willing to “call us out” but in a kind, calm manner. He doesn’t miss a thing but never once did I feel humiliated or spoken to in a condescending manner. Yisrael studied this technique in LA and knows it well. I’m really glad I took his class.
Yisrael did a wonderful job of creating a safe space for students to explore Meisner activities and scenes. He was very engaged and committed to making sure each one of us understood the fundamentals of each activity before moving on to the next step. The end result was a greater trust in ourselves, our partners and the technique as a tool to draw upon in the future.
This is a class very well conducted by Yisrael and Abby’s Actor Studio. It’s a class of fun, enthusiasm, and excitement and provides acting students with a chance to grow as an actor.

The Meisner technique is a fundamental acting technique. It deals with living presently in the moment, connecting with the other person in the scene, and allowing the actor to express their emotions. These are fundamental aspects of the actor.
Every acting technique has its own merit, and different people resonate with different techniques. The Meisner technique can be beneficial to everyone.
The traditional Meisner program that Sanford Meisner set up is two years long. Some teachers teach the technique in an intensive format, going through all of the steps in a few months. This is how long it takes to learn the technique, but to master it, in Sanford Meisner's own words, "It takes 20 years to become a master".
The Meisner technique relies on a lot of partner work. And while there are some aspects of the technique that can be done solo, the essence of the technique must be practiced with a partner. If you have a partner at home or nearby that is familiar with the Meisner technique, then you can practice at home.
No. Following Michael Chekhov, and (later) Stanislavski, Meisner believed that we have far better command, as well as variety over our emotions if we use imagination rather than reality. With reality, we are limited by what we've experienced and are forced to relive past trauma; whereas with imagination, we only experience the imaginary and our possibilities are endless.
Yes. A good comedian understands that for his comedy to be funny, he must believe in the circumstances and react accordingly. The comedian knows that if he tries to be funny, he wont be. This is the essence of the Meisner technique. We learn to live in our imaginary environment, truly believing in it, and react to what happens around us.
The main focus of Meisner is on living presently in the moment and connecting with your partner. Each acting technique has a different point of focus. Stanislavski, for example, focuses a lot on objective (although ALL modern acting techniques stem from Stanislavski). Adler's focus was usually geared toward circumstances and script interpretation. Strasberg's Method likes to focus on affective memory and relaxation. Each technique brings something else to the table and all of them can be beneficial to the actor.
