Our program includes Acting for TV & Film and Improv for Kids Classes.
Acting teaches kids and teens life skills such as confidence, teamwork, communication, creativity, discipline and work ethic, public speaking skills and resilience. In addition, we teach acting techniques and audition techniques that will prepare them to work on professional film sets.
Our students will get a chance to perform in front of a live audience and take part in short films to build their resumes and IMDb page.
Please reach us at info@brightstaractingacademy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Bright Star Acting Academy Youth classes specializes mainly in film acting. We train young students acting techniques and also tips on how to audition and how to build their resume, find agent and start booking jobs.
We have done special programs in the past such as filmmaking, script to screen for teens and musical theater and dance during the summer. We will also be adding theater shows in 2025. Please email us if you would like to get updates about our upcoming program.
We like to keep our classes small to give more opportunity for each child/teen to perform. Our classes are usually around 10 students per class and if we have more students, we will have an assistant teacher to keep everyone engaged.
We have student showcases every 3-4 months where you can invite your family and friends to watch what your child/teen has been working on in class.
Youth Improv students also perform during the student showcase.
We are currently working on putting up theater plays in 2025 so please keep a look out for that.
All of our students will get a chance to join our team at the 48 Hour Film Festival. This is a great way for students to experience what it is like to be on a real film set and attend a red-carpet premiere and watch themselves on the big screen. They also get their name listed on IMDB!
Additionally, we have connections with local filmmakers who are constantly looking for actors. Our students get first priority with auditions that come our way. We also occasionally hold auditions for local filmmakers and casting directors. Sometimes, we invite them to watch our student showcase. Acting is all about networking and you'll never know who you'll meet!
Our students have had the opportunity to work on independent films and short films and commercials and have signed with LV and LA Agents,
Our youth program for Improvisation accepts students from 6-16 years old.
Our Acting for TV & Film Program accepts kids and teens ages 8-16 years old.
If you have a 16 or 17 year old, please check out our Fundamentals of Acting I, Improvisation for the Actor, and On-Camera Acting I classes.
You'll be surprised how many professional actors are very shy!
We understand how scary it is to perform and act in front of peers, Our teachers are very mindful of that and they make the students do anything they're not comfortable doing.
If they are hesitant to take classes but they would like to observe, they may do that as well. Ask us for a free class!
If a student isn't ready to perform, they are not required to join the showcase but they're always welcome to sit in the audience and cheer on their friends.
The more our students get used to performing in front of their peers, the more the will get comfortable performing in front of an audience. And the more they perform in front of an audience of supportive friends and family, the more comfortable they will be performing in theater shows and auditioning in front of casting directors and filmmakers.
Please understand that it takes time. Sometimes it takes a few months and sometimes it takes years for a child to feel comfortable in front of an audience. The key is repetition and constantly being exposed to being in front of an audience.
