Our vision is to train our local actors the basic techniques necessary for acting in film, commercials, theater and improv along with equipping actors with the knowledge of the business of acting, auditioning and how to find jobs and how to find an agent. Our teachers teach college level academics and our classes focus on lecture, exercises and scene work.
We take an academic approach on teaching acting techniques. Not everyone can learn acting techniques the way colleges or universities teach it so we’re here to make it more accessible. All of our teachers are fully qualified with a Bachelor or Master‘s Degree in Theater or Film (or related education/training) or have been working in the industry for more than five years.
No, Bright Star Acting Academy offers classes for actors of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced. We also welcome individuals who would like to take classes for fun or for personal enrichment.
Go to our menu and click on Tuition Fees & Register. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see options to register for one subject or buy an acting package.
All students learn and grow at a different pace. Most of our students who have no acting experience usually start to show improvement within 6 months of attending weekly classes. Most actors will reach intermediate level within a year of attending our classes regularly. Attending different subjects several times a week speed up the process and make you a well rounded.
You may schedule a free audit if we have spaces available. Call or text 725 600 2626 if you would like to schedule an audit.
All of our classes are hands on and because of our smaller class sizes, each student will be able to perform or do an acting exercise during class. For our acting techniques class, our lectures rarely go over 30 minutes and the rest of the class is designed to put actors on their feet and apply the technique they learned through exercises/drills, scene work and improv.
We try to stay away from teaching online acting classes because actors need human connection and it is difficult be present in a scene through a computer screen. The only time we will have online classes is if it is strictly informative. We have recorded a Business of Acting 4 part series through zoom and it is available for purchase. We also offer online private lessons especially when doing character development and scene analysis.
We do showcases quarterly and do improv shows once a month. We are still working on putting together original plays. We are also starting Bright Star Theater Company in 2025.
We participate in the worldwide 48 Hour Film Project and we also film short films. Students will need to audition for roles. These films can be added to the students’ resume and will be added on IMDb.
We like to keep our class sizes small. We cap our classes at 10 and our average class size is 6. We make sure that students have plenty of time working with their scene partners because we understand how important it is to be able to perform scenes and get feedback.
Not yet. Our youngest age is 8 but if you believe your 7 year old can join, you’re welcome stop by and observe a class for free. Contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to try a class out.
