Buddy has been doing improv since 2009. He has learned from such teachers as Joe Bill (IO), Miles Stroth (founder of The Pack) and Liz Allen (Second City and IO) as well as Improv-Vegas teachers Paul Mattingly (Second City Flamingo) and Matt Donnelly (Magnet, UCB, and The PIT).
Buddy is a founding member of Mancandy Musical Improv. He has learned from the great musical improv teachers; Laura Hall of Who’s Line is it Anyway, Scott Passerella of OffBook the improvised musical podcast and Shulie Cowen Creator of Opening Night the improvised musical. He also taught a six month course from dunce to diva class based on the amazing instant songwriting book by Nancy Howland Walker.
Improv is a very important tool for actors because it teaches actors creativity, builds confidence on stage and also helps actors with improvised scenes in film, tv and commercials. It also looks great on your resume! Improv skills are crucial to actors and taking improv classes will help you become a more versatile actor.
Improv for kids is a fun and engaging way to help children build confidence, creativity, and communication skills. Through spontaneous games and exercises, kids learn to think quickly, collaborate with peers, and embrace the art of problem-solving in a supportive environment. Improv encourages self-expression, boosts social skills, and helps children become more adaptable and resilient. Whether they're shy or outgoing, improv allows kids to explore their imagination, take risks, and develop important life skills that will benefit them both on and off the stage!
The vast majority of working comic actors from Nicole Byer and Shaseer Zamata to Lisa Kudrow and Conan O’Brien have extensive training in longform improv. The cast and writing staff of Saturday Night Live has consisted of 90+ percent longform improvisers.
Each week, we will work new acting muscles and have a fresh perspective.
Longforms learned include La Ronde, Monoscene, proprietary blend, Harold, Movie Form, and Deconstruction.
Focus range from environment, to spacework, to scenework group work and game of the scene and even scene types.
There will be something for everyone in every class from beginners to advanced players.
Helpful for all levels, whether you’re getting reps or learning skills for the first time.
We will have an improv show every 4 months.

Buddy conducts a fun and very constructive class in improvisation. I've been going to pretty regularly, the last 6 months. I have definitely grown as a performer in that time.

Beyond solid improv and performance skills (like affirmation, physicality, “who/what/where”, and how to find and play the “game” of a scene), he will teach you confidence. Confidence in creating a character. Confidence in working with other actors on a stage or set. Confidence in using space, finding rhythm to a scene, and knowing how to let go of rigidity, fear, and your own limitations. Buddy digs down deep. He’s just the best in town.
Bu de is an amazing improv teacher who is always welcoming and supportive to new students and provides fun challenges to veteran performers. I cannot recommend his classes enough.
